Estimania is a free daily estimation game. Every day you get five numerical trivia questions — from science, geography, history, and sport — and your job is to guess the answer as closely as possible. And then share your score to your friends, of course! A new puzzle drops at midnight UTC.
Depends on your browser. On mobile:
Chrome: Tap the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner → “Translate”.
Safari: Tap “AA” or the page icon in the address bar → “Translate”.
No topic is excluded! Questions span science, geography, history, sport, and more — always with a numerical answer. Some are deliberately Fermi questions: named after physicist Enrico Fermi, these are back-of-the-envelope estimation challenges where the exact answer is hard to know but a reasonable ballpark can be reached through logical reasoning (e.g. "How many piano tuners are in Chicago?"). You are not expected to know the answer — you are expected to think it through. You can also submit a question suggestion here.
Each answer is scored on a log scale: a perfect guess scores 100, and being off by a factor of 10 scores 0. This means guessing 50 when the answer is 100 costs you the same as guessing 200 — proportional errors are treated symmetrically.
Not at all. Many questions — like "How many dogs exist worldwide?" — don't have a single exact answer. The point of the game is to develop a reasonable sense of scale, not to recall a precise figure. The reference answer is sourced from a credible estimate, and the log-scale scoring means you're rewarded generously for being in the right ballpark. Getting the order of magnitude right is the goal.
A new puzzle is released every day at midnight UTC. Once you complete a puzzle, it locks — each puzzle can only be played once.
Yes. After completing your first puzzle you can generate a recovery code to link a second device, so your scores and leaderboard rank stay in sync.
You can just create a new account. Delete the browser data for this site and when you play next time, you can enter a new nickname. If you're on the App:
Android: Settings → Apps → Estimania → Storage → Clear Data (resets everything)
iOS: Deleting and reinstalling the PWA is the only option
Yes — Estimania is a Progressive Web App (PWA). On Android you can install it from Chrome; on iOS, use “Add to Home Screen” in Safari.
Estimania is developed by me, Valentin. I am a 27 year old solo developer and trivia geek based in Graz, Austria. If you want to reach out, you can via Instagram or this form.
Currently, it doesn't - it's a pure passion project. If you want to help with the associated costs, you can support the project on Ko-fi.
